Did you know, that ...

touchscreens have made history for 5 decades already?

Although touchscreens are nowadays part in almost everybody's life, it rather feels like a new addition in our daily use. Most of us remember the time, when mobile phones used to have buttons. Nonetheless,  it was in 1965, when E.A. Johnson already invented the first finger-driven touchscreen. According to the article “From touch displays to the Surface[...]“ the technology behind touchscreens can be even traced back to the 1940s.

Since then the touchscreen technology has continually developed. After several generations the touchscreen became standard in smartphones and tablets as well as for other user inputs, as they appear, for example, in shop’s till systems, cars and even in planes. And the development is still continuing. It is therefore not surprising, that also the lift’s common LED indicators and indicator boards are exchanged through touchscreens.
